Hello!!! Greetings from me. Finally finished my finals today and is already out enjoying my semester break with food hunting. When I heard that Caffe Bene is opening in Gurney Paragon, I knew I need to go have a try. Yup, you heard it right! Caffe Bene is having an outlet in Penang.
For the drinks, they serves coffee, non-coffee, yogurt smoothie, non-alcohol cocktail and tea. As for their desserts, they have waffles, honey bread and bingsu. If you want to know what is bingsu, scroll down to see the pictures.
As I just had my dinner, I only ordered a vanilla latte and a bingsu.
Vanilla Latte (RM 12.00)
I love the vanilla latte as the portion of vanilla is strong enough that I can taste both vanilla and latte in it. But better drink it while it is still hot.
Cookies & Cream Bingsu (Small RM 12.80)
[Definition of Bingsu : Bingsu is a very popular and elaborate
snack/dessert in Korea, especially during the summer season. This snack
is composed of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened
condensed milk, fruit syrups, various fruits such as strawberries,
kiwifruit, and bananas, small pieces of tteok (rice cake), chewy jelly
bits, and cereal flakes. It is often topped with ice cream or frozen
yogurt.]
The cookies & cream bingsu is topped with Ice Cream then Oreo bits. Then it is filled with ice shavings with condensed milk I suppose as it is kinda sweet. After that it is filled with a layer of red bean then ice shavings again. The portion is quite big and is a bit too sweet for me. So I might suggest that you go with a few more friends to share it.
How to eat Bingsu :
2nd visit to Cafe Bene.
Coffee Bingsu (Small RM 12.80)
Garlic and Cheese Toast (RM 17)
I really love this as the toast was really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Besides, the combination of the toast and cheese and garlic is just amazing.
I also ordered the buy 1 free 1 promotion which was only till 30 September.
Sweet Potato Latte (Regular RM 12.00)
Misugaru (Regular)
I didn't really like the sweet potato as it tasted kinda weird for me. As for the misugaru, it was less weird because in my opinion, it tasted a bit like wheat.
